Meet Valerie Founder of Artful Jewellery
Valerie is the founder of Artful Jewellery, dedicated to creating handcrafted Jewellery. her journey into jewellery making began in 2015 when she was trying to find jewellery that didn't exist. Her dedication to mastering the craft led her to various courses, including Dee's 10-week non-accredited course in silversmithing in 2016, where she was guided to overcame her soldering challenges whilst developing essential techniques.
To advance her skills further, Valerie completed Dee's Level 2 NCFE course, which introduced her to advanced silversmithing techniques, lost wax casting and business skills. This training allowed her to expand Artful Jewellery.
Now a Fairtrade Gold Sales Ambassador, Artful Jewellery stands out for its commitment to creativity, quality and ethical trading. To achieve her business goal she has been investing her own money to purchase equipment for the business and now contributes to the local economy.
Meet Michelle Founder oF Be-Indivijewel l
Michelle is a passionate artist and silversmith who has embraced craft skills since childhood. Her business journey began with beaded jewellery in the early 2000s and evolved into silversmithing in 2014, seeking new skills and techniques.
Michelle joined Dee's silversmithing Level 1 and 2 courses to enhance her skills, she also completed Dee’s upholstery course to diversify her crafting skills. Operating from her home studio and her father's workshop, Michelle combines silversmithing, upcycling, and resin work and woodworking.
Be-Indivijewel reflects Michelle's diverse skills and commitment to individuality and craftsmanship. She is an inspiration for aspiring silversmiths by sharing her journey and offering realistic business advice inspiring others to pursue their artistic dreams.
Meet Christine Founder of Kristaval Keepsakes
Christine, a retiree who transitioned from an administrative career to become a skilled jeweller. After retiring, Christine wanted to improve her jewellery making skills with silversmithing and enrolled in Dee's evening class Level 1 and 2 silversmithing courses.
Through Dee's courses, Christine mastered basic and advanced silversmithing techniques, including soldering, shaping, polishing silver, stone setting and creating intricate designs. Her dedication to learning new skills led to offering bespoke pieces to themed collections made from 925 Sterling Silver, genuine gemstones and crystals
Her business not only provides clients with exclusive designs but also promotes craftsmanship in the local economy in local markets and fairs. Her journey is a testament to the power of passion, determination.
